本课程期中任务是一份小型学习调研报告。重点不是做出“大结论”,而是把问题、材料、方法和结果说明清楚。
材料
至少记录10个有效样本;说明材料来自哪里,删除哪些无效记录以及原因
分析
先概括观察到的共同点和差距,再解释哪些只是可能原因,哪些有材料支持
结尾
说明你对结论有多大把握,并写出下一步还需要补什么材料
初级练习可以用较短材料,但“短”不等于可以省略来源和范围。

安娜把十二页笔记变成两页报告

安娜第一次打开自己的调研笔记时有十二页。她访问了十二名同学,每个人都说了很多学习习惯。她原来以为资料越多,报告就越容易写,真正开始整理后却发现,很多内容互相重复。
她上周在图书馆按照“时间安排、词汇方法、复习反馈”三个类别认真地重新整理记录。分类以后,她才看出不同同学之间真正的差距,而不是被每个人讲故事的细节带着走。
最后她把十二页笔记概括成两页报告。她没有写“这种方法对所有学生都最好”,因为十二个样本下不得这样的结论。她只写:在这批受访者中,固定复习时间的人更常提到计划感;这个现象值得以后用更多材料继续观察。

你的分类很清楚,概括也比第一版出色。不过第二段从“6个人这样做”直接写到“这种方法最有效”,中间证据不够。
安娜
明白。我会把结论改成“在这批受访者中比较常见”,并说明样本只有十二份。还需要补新的数据吗?

这次作业不一定要补。先把你现有材料能支持到哪里写清楚,比为了让结论更大而临时增加几个样本更重要。

“概括”不是把细节全部删掉

概括的本领不是把十句话机械地缩成一句话,而是先判断哪几个信息共同回答同一个问题。与问题无关的细节可以减少,支持判断的数量、范围和例子却不能随便删。
写报告时,还要区分“材料里看得到什么”和“作者认为为什么”。前者可以直接概括,后者通常需要解释依据和把握程度。
因此,一份出色的短报告往往不是信息最少,而是每一条留下的信息都有作用。
